Sleep is a favorite topic of ours to cover here at the Health Bridge as it seems we have trouble taking our own advice! About 62% of American adults experience some sort of problem a few nights a week and 30% suffer from some sort of insomnia in the course of a year. What is causing this? Is it diet? Lifestyle? Genetics? Age? Stress? How do we fix it? To help answer these questions Pedram Shojai welcomes board-certified sleep specialist Dr. Raj Dasgupta to the show. Dr. Dasgupta helps to explain what sleep apnea is and how that differs from generic snoring and the sort of harm apnea does on the body. He also provides a few behavioral changes we each can make to help our bodies get more out of the (hopefully) full eight hours of sleep we get each night!

On this episode of The Health Bridge, Dr. Tami and Dr. Pedram welcome Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary. She was a neurologist that has also studied Ayurvedic medicine. Dr. Kulreet used to suffer from migraine headaches which were not helped by the medicines she would prescribe to her patients. After a consultation with her mother, she discovered that her migraines were helped when she changed some of the foods she ate which aided her microbiome. What is the connection between the gut and the brain? How can what we eat have such a significant affect on what happens neurologically? What other affects may occur if we heal our gut? How does this affect our weight and how does this change our relationship with food? Is it possible to reset our normal?

Robyn Youkilis returns to The Health Bridge to discuss the role of the foods we eat on our digestive health.
